Vroom! This is not your ordinary T-shirt.

Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) in Fort Myers, Florida, traditionally has given its staff, faculty and administrators a welcome back gift at the beginning of the school year. A generous gesture that has proven to start the year with a sense of teamwork and camaraderie among the leaders of the university.

After the recent economic downturn and subsequent decrease in funding, the Office of Advancement was looking for a creative way to accomplish the same goal for a much lower cost.

With the help of Lucy Costa and Promotional Incentives, Inc., Michele Kroffke Director, Events and Special Projects for FGCU spearheaded this exciting promotion.

A race-car shaped compressed T-shirt was selected to represent the roll out of the new FGCU word mark logo, created by John Kemler, Senior Graphic Designer/Art Director of Community Relations & Marketing. Nicole Schmitt, Events and Special Projects Creative Assistant created a completely unique design for the final race car design.

The sporty, clever design incorporated a number of elements, for example, the car number was 97 which is the inaugural year of FGCU. The” license plate” was the FGCU designer series available for purchase through the state of Florida, and read “BUY ONE” subtly urging participation in the program.

The colors were FGCU blue and green and the new word mark logo was located on the side. The website was on the back fender and the size of the T-shirt stamped on the bottom of the car.

A gift with impact for nearly one third the previous budget. Feedback has been extremely positive with comments such as: “The special gift was a great souvenir” and “A fabulous gift.”

A winning solution. That’s what we mean by Getting Results®!
